Concert Raises £168 for Malawi’s Orphans
We held a very successful concert in St John’s URC Church on Friday 7th July.
A good audience enjoyed a lively summer confection of popular songs and folk songs, and raised £168 for the Open Arms (Malawi) Charity, which helps orphans in that country to find safe and loving homes.
Coffee Morning Raises £130
The choir held a very successful coffee morning on Wednesday May 24th in the Daniel Owen Centre in Mold and raised over £130 for our funds.
Many thanks to all who took part, baking cakes, running the tombola and helping on the day, as well as all those who came and had coffee with us.
Please join us again on Saturday Sept 30th.
2016 was another eventful year for Buckley Singers – here are some of the highlights.
May 2016 we held a concert of sacred music at St Matthew’s Church, Buckley, which was very well received. It was a pleasure to support the church by sharing the proceeds with them.
Buckley Lights – We were particularly busy in the run-up to Christmas and it was a particular pleasure to sing at the switching on ceremony of the lights in Buckley – a perfect way to start the Christmas festivities, I’m sure you’ll all agree.
Christmas Concert – We rehearse weekly at The Cross Methodist Church in Buckley where we held our Christmas Concert in 2016, a seasonal mix of carols and readings. This was a great success and we were very happy to donate half of the proceeds to the church’s fund for roof repairs.
Private Charity Function – We enjoy singing and we especially enjoy using these talents to help raise funds for good causes. We were delighted to be invited to a private function to raise money for the Countess of Chester Special Care Baby Unit. We hope to be able to continue to support such events in the future especially as we all had a wonderful time, thoroughly enjoying the sherry and mince pies!
The Glasfryn Pub, Mold, invited us again to entertain their customers with Christmas songs and carols. A enjoyable evening was had by all.
We look forward to an equally successful 2017.
